Use pure aloevera.

The aloe vera will come to soften and lighten the epidermis. It is known to relieve burns on the skin, but it also contains a compound called anthraquinone which acts as a lightener by removing the top layer of epidermal cells. Apply a thick layer to your skin and wait about 20 minutes until it has been completely absorbed. You can rinse your face if you want, but given the nourishing properties of aloevera, it is best to let it take effect.

Rub your skin with a raw potato.

Cut a potato into slices and pour a little water on each slice. Rub the potato on your skin for complete lightening or place it on the area you want to lighten for a localized treatment (e.g. to treat signs of aging). In either case, rinse your skin with warm water for about ten minutes when you are finished.
  • The starch and sugar in the potato will exfoliate your skin, and the vitamin C, potassium, zinc and other nutrients will help rejuvenate your skin, making it clearer.
  • Potatoes are mild enough to be used daily.
  • If you don't have potatoes on hand, you can use other vitamin C-rich fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers or papaya.

Rinse your skin with green coconut water.

Buy a bottle of pure coconut water or break your own coconut to extract the juice. Dip a cotton ball in the water before applying it to your face and other areas of your skin that you want to lighten. Leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Prepare a lemon, honey and oatmeal mask.

Mix your natural lighteners with exfoliants to create a mask that will lighten your skin, remove the dark layer of cells and lightly discolor the new skin underneath. Prepare a mask with lemon juice, honey and a teaspoon (1 g) of oats. Apply it to your face and other areas you wish to treat and leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing off.
  • When rinsing off the mask, use your fingertips to make light circular motions. Milled oatmeal will remove the top layer of dead skin and reveal the lighter layer underneath.
  • If you have dry skin, use cucumber instead of lemon. Apply an equal mixture of cucumber juice and honey to your face and body for 15 minutes before rinsing.
  • You can also mix 2 teaspoons (2 g) of powdered oats, a pinch of turmeric and a few drops of lemon juice.
